Human Skeletal System And The Human Body - 1120 Words
The femur, is the longest, heaviest, and strongest bone in the entire human body. In the human body, all of the bodyââ¬â¢s weight is supported by the femurs which are located in the human thigh. The femur is classified as a long bone and extends from the hip down to the knee. The head of the femur articulates with the pelvis to form the hip joint. The neck is a narrow connection between the head of the femur and the diaphysis of it. The diaphysis is the shaft of the bone and the facet is the small smooth articular surface at the end of the femur. The femur is made up of spongy bone, compact bone, bone marrow, arteries, and veins. The femur bones are responsible for transmitting force from the tibia to the hip joint. The femur is a very important part of the skeletal system. When discovering the skeletal system and its interrelations you can learn a lot about the body. The human skeletal system consists of exactly 206 bones, it also contains tendons, ligaments, and cartilage that c onnects them together. The skeletal system performs vital functions such as support, movement, protection, blood cell production, calcium storage, and endocrine regulation. Infants are born with 270 bones, but some of them fuse together as the body develops. A bone in the skeletal system are typically dense and tough on the outside, like a compact bone. When going deeper in the bone the next layer is called spongy bone, which is lighter and more flexible. Some of these bones contain boneShow MoreRelatedThe Skeletal System Of Human Body1247 Words à |à 5 Pagesthought about how humans would be without bones? They would not be able to function the way that they do now if it did not have bones. The skeletal system is a highly important system in the human body, it functions as support, protection, and creation of red blood cells. This system is composed of bones and joints, an average adult contains 206 bone and an average child contains 270 bones because as a person grows the bones fuse together to create a single bone. The skeletal system is divided in toRead MoreStructure Of Skeletal System Of The Human Body1013 Words à |à 5 PagesStructure of Skeletal System The human body is made up of 206 bones held together by ligaments, whilst joints provide mobility. Ligaments are a band of tough, flexible connective tissue which connects two bones. The skeleton forms a frame at which the internal organs rest and over which muscles and skin is layered over. The bones of the human skeleton are divided into 2 groups: axial and appendicular skeletons. The axial skeleton forms the axis of the body and it includes the bones of the skullRead MoreBody Systems of Humans, Crayfish, Pigs, and Earthworms1598 Words à |à 7 PagesBody Systems of Various Organisms All organisms in the world have a range of systems and organs in their body. Some organisms may share similar body systems while others have absolutely nothing in common. Several of those organisms include humans, pigs, crayfish, and earthworms. From their mushy, gushy organs to their soft, gentle skin, you may think, ââ¬Å"How are humans and pigs possibly alike? Or a crayfish and an earthworm?â⬠In many ways they may not be, but in other ways, they are very much alikeRead MoreDifferent Systems in a Human Body Essay1018 Words à |à 5 PagesHuman Body System Interaction . All the systems in the human body are vital to our survival and well-being. If you take away the functions of just one of these systems our whole body will cease to work properly. The main systems of the human body are the nervous, endocrine respiratory, circulatory, immune, digestive, excretory, skeletal, muscular, and the reproductive systems. They all work together in harmony and unison to keep us alive. The nervous and endocrine systems are what controlRead MoreOrgan Systems And The Human Body976 Words à |à 4 PagesThe human body is composed of several organ systems that help throughout the body to perform specific functions. There are a total of 11 organ systems with different assigned function; organ systems are a group of organs that work together in order to make a function, such as the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic/immunity, digestive, urinary, and reproductive system. These organ systems are very important to the body because some have functions thatRead MoreBio/100 Appendix E Comparing Physiology Worksheet Essay1474 Words à |à 6 Pagescompare the circulatory, skeletal, and respiratory systems of sharks, iguanas, eagles, and humans. Anatomy and Physiology: Human musculoskeletal system A musculoskeletal system (also known as the locomotor system) is an organ system that gives animals (including humans) the ability to move using the muscular and skeletal systems. The musculoskeletal system provides form, support, stability, and movement to the body. It is made up of the bodyââ¬â¢s bone the skeleton, muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, joints, and otherRead MoreImportance And The Structures Of The Muscular System995 Words à |à 4 Pagesthe importance and the structures of the muscular system. The muscular system contains skeletal muscles, this is what helps the body function every day. Skeletal muscles are the correlation between muscles and bones that work together in the body. Fibers tighten in the body, allowing the skeletal muscle to create movement within the skin; this is made up of connective tissue and skeletal muscle tissue. These muscle tissues are found throughout the body with different characteristics and correlationsRead MoreRelationship Betwee n the Muscular System and Its Contribution to the Overall Health and Balance of the Body688 Words à |à 3 PagesEach body part has a specific role within the community of the human body.
